When you think of The Shire, you may imagine lush green hills, round doors, wood smoke curling from chimneys, and the smell of something warm baking in the oven. It feels like safety. It feels like home.
And for many of us (especially those coming from hard beginnings or still living in small apartments, rentals, or city homes), something like the Shire can feel like a far-off dream, something we hope to reach someday when we have the land, the house, the means.
But what if The Shire isn’t a place we wait for?
What if it’s something we create, right here, right now?

That doesn’t disqualify you from building a Shire of your own; in fact, it makes the work all the more meaningful.
