As someone who but deeply loves and cares for my students, I love this perspective! I think I want to explore more how to incorporate Charlotte Mason in the school day. It sounds like exactly what they need!

Her methods were embraced by homeschoolers, but she was a teacher herself! These are the methods she noticed helped her students flourish. You definitely could! Modern Miss Mason is a great start, its a shorter book that condenses her info through a more modern lens and its a personal favorite!

My baby girl is only 13 months but I'm so excited to homeschool! I went to a traditional school my entire life so I have no idea where to begin LOL so this was so helpful! Thank you Alyssa :)

I'm so glad to hear it! I recommend looking up HSLDA for homeschool laws and info specific to your state!

I am trying to find an old Substack article from Oct 2024 or earlier that was about how Hobbits would be educated and it included stories about trolls, Beowulf, King Arthur and many others. And I can’t find it!! Did you see it? Can you point me in the right direction?

Have your heard about The Children’s Tradition? It’s a lot more than just the short book list on the Substack about Hobbit school, but it definitely has the same spirit as the Hobbit school idea. I am hoping to incorporate many of the books in our next school year!
