Love this piece so much—and all you share. 💛 I don’t have my own home yet (just a tiny apartment), or children, but I believe in the hobbit philosophy with all my heart. I’ve always had a love for practicing hospitality and creating calm, welcoming spaces for people. Some of this came from going to massage therapy school, and some just innate. Grateful for your words!
Oh, I’ve been cultivating it all along. I wasn’t saying that I was waiting. I got married at 36 and have lived in many homes over the years. But my husband just graduated from college, and we are starting from scratch. So, God is once again teaching me to savor and appreciate a small space and simple blessings.
This is so beautifully written and inspiring! Thank you. A "magical childhood of creek days and tea times, of stargazing and storybooks, of chores with cheerful music and dinners by candlelight." Even those of us without young children can embrace these joyful, hobbit practices. Love it!

Don't wait for someday! Cultivate it now, until it becomes second nature to you: Tomorrow-you will thank you now-you.

We are such kindred spirits! Yes to a hobbit-hearted home!
This was so beautiful and encouraging!
A thousand times yes! We just got home from a lengthy trip, and while it was wonderous, there's no place like home for real comfort.
